The Gospel According to Elvis
Written by Christopher Jerabek
“Words are only reflections of what we feel, or what we think. Belief is something so much bigger.”
The Gospel According to Elvis was the first play I ever wrote, finished in my junior year at Pepperdine University. It chronicles a struggling writer’s quest to finish a screenplay featuring Elvis’s early life in the Baptist church, but struggling to find his Christian voice amidst a secular industry. Told through a series of conversations with an elderly janitor, The Gospel According to Elvis explores what modern Christians might have to do to keep up with a rapidly changing society.
